Mindszentkálla is a Hungarian community in the district Tapolca in Veszprém County . The place is north of Lake Balaton in the Káli Basin. Neighboring communities within four kilometers are Szentbékkálla , Kékkút and Káptalantóti . The area has been inhabited since ancient times. In one of the neighboring villages, Kékkút, Christians lived in Roman times. This is proven by the stone of the monograms in Christ. The first written mention of Mindszentkáll comes from 1277.
nature
To the west of Mindszentkálla is the 302 meter high Kopaszhegy ( Glatzenberg ). Like many other mountains in the Káli Basin, this mountain was a volcano. The Káli Basin has been a nature reserve since 1984, an archaic land almost untouched by the damage of modern times. Here are figs , almonds , chestnuts , lavender and rosemary home. Stone junipers and heather thrive here with the sub-Mediterranean vegetation. The meeting of alpine and Atlantic vegetation is interesting. Wild ducks and geese, black storks , spoonbills and various herons also feel at home here. Very close to Szentbékkálla, a neighboring village of Mindszentkálla, is the “Stone Sea”. Stones and rocks lie as if they had been scattered by a giant. It is a mystery where the boulders, some of which are the size of a house, lying over an eight-meter-thick layer of sand, come from.
Attractions
In Mindszentkálla there is the Roman Catholic Church Mindenszentek , which was built in 1829 in the classical style. The high altar, the pulpit and the benches as well as the organ cabinet date from 1830 and are classicist carvings. The old Romanesque baptismal font in today's sacristy is also interesting.
In addition, further outside the village you can find the ruins of an old church that was destroyed during the Turkish occupation.
There is a 1956 monument in the village ( 1956-os emlékmaffen ), created by Tamás Tóth.
