Regius Professor of Anatomy (Glasgow)

The Regius Professor of Anatomy was founded by King George I in 1718 as the Regius Chair of Anatomy and Botany . When King George III. 1818 a separate Department of Botany donated , the Regius Professor of Botany , the Department has continued as Regius Professor of Anatomy. Another Regius Professorship for Anatomy was founded in 1863 by Queen Victoria at the University of Aberdeen , also called the Regius Professor of Anatomy .

Thomas Brisbane 1720 Brisbane was the first Regius professor of anatomy and botany. However, he only taught botany because he thought the autopsy was tasteless.

James Jeffray 1790 1848 From 1818 Jeffray was only Regius Professor of Anatomy, since at his instigation an independent chair for botany was founded, the Regius Professor of Botany. He was a successful speaker and gathered around 200 students. He invented a surgical saw.
