Regius Professor of Botany (Glasgow)

The Regius Professor of Botany is a 1818 endowed by George III. established Regius Professorship at the University of Glasgow . From 1704 lectures in botany were held in Glasgow , which in 1718 were appointed Regius Chair of Anatomy and Botany . With the separation of botany as an independent subject in 1818, this chair was continued as Regius Professor of Anatomy .

In addition to the Regius Professorship for Botany in Glasgow, there are also Regius Professorships for Botany at the Universities of Aberdeen ( Regius Professor of Botany (Aberdeen) since 1912), University of Edinburgh ( Regius Professor of Plant Science since 1710) and Cambridge ( Regius Professor of Botany (Cambridge) since 2009).

Further stations were the University of Nuremberg, where he was supported with a scholarship from the Fulbright program , then Yale, Cambridge, the University of London and Imperial College, London.
