The Reifhorn is a mountain in the Loferer Steinberge on the border of Salzburg and Tyrol . The 2488  m above sea level. A. high main summit (also Großes Reifhorn ) is surrounded by the western Reifhorn , eastern Reifhorn and the Kreuzreifhorn , all of which are lower. The frost horns rise centrally from the defensive pit and divide it into the large and small defensive pit. The Kreuzreifhorn stands out striking to the north and forms the central pyramid of the Loferer Steinberge when looking at Lofer . To the southeast, the frost horns send walls and pillars up to 600 m high. The summit of the Kreuzreifhorn is an excellent viewing platform over Lofer.

Approaches

The easiest approach is from the Schmidt-Zabierow hut from the large weir pit via the Michael-Steiner-Weg. Via this path you can reach the Weinschartel and the Kreuzreifhorn in 2 hours (from the hut). The route is marked and demands in places easy climbing (I UIAA scale) and surefootedness . The short ascent from Weinschartel to the Großer Reifhorn is not marked and has climbing difficulty II. In addition, the south-east slopes and the long north ridge offer climbing routes of various degrees of difficulty.
