Reimar Oltmanns
Reimar Oltmanns (born July 21, 1949 in Schöningen ) is a German journalist and book author .
Life
Up until September 1970 Reimar Oltmanns was active in various functions with the Lower Saxony young democrats , most recently as state chairman of the youth organization that was then affiliated with the FDP . The FDP state association, which was co-determined by German national politicians and expellee functionaries, broke with the young democrats because they were too rebellious and left-wing. He was a delegate at FDP state and federal party conferences and, due to its function, belonged to the FDP state executive without voting rights. Together with twenty leading young democrats, Oltmanns joined the SPD . From 1970 to 1972 he was press spokesman for Lower Saxony's minister of education, Peter von Oertzen .
He volunteered at the Cuxhavener Zeitung and the Hanover Press . At the beginning of the seventies he wrote for the Frankfurter Rundschau from Hanover and later for the Stern from Bonn. In Hamburg he also worked for Stern in the German Politics department and as deputy head of the Special Topics department . His formative teachers and accompanying journalistic mentors included university professors Peter von Oertzen and Peter Brückner as well as senior editors Karl-Hermann Flach from Frankfurter Rundschau and Arnim von Manikowsky from Stern magazine.
In 1979, Oltmanns left the star and worked as a freelance writer for Spiegel and Die Zeit . In 1981, Oltmanns testified before the Hanseatic Higher Regional Court in the so-called "title page trial". The feminist Alice Schwarzer sued against the censorship of the Stern editor-in-chief Henri Nannen and the representation of women as mere sexual objects. Oltmanns described Stern's internal editorial processes in favor of the Emma editor.
After moving to Frankfurt am Main , he wrote for other newspapers, magazines and book publishers. Among other things, he was editor-in-chief of the Frankfurt city illustrated "appearance" in 1984/85. In addition, Reimar Oltmanns wrote advertising campaigns and TV spots as a freelancer for advertising agencies. From 1990 he lived in Bologna , from 1992 to 2009 he worked in the Rhône-Alpes region near Lyon . In reports he also reported from South America, Africa and Eastern Europe. He wrote features and travel sketches for Western Europe, especially from Italy and France.
From 2009 Reimar Oltmanns lived in Austria. First in Graz , where he has been a supporting member of the Free Radio Helsinki since 2012 ; 2013 as a writer in Innsbruck. Three years later he moved back to Germany to Hude .
In recognition of his socially critical writings, Oltmanns was allowed to enter the Golden Book of the city of Schöningen in 2009 .
