Reinhard Dankert (born October 27, 1951 in Rostock ) is a German politician ( SPD ). From 1994 to 2010 he was a member of the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania state parliament and from December 2010 to December 2016 the state commissioner for data protection and freedom of information in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania .

Life

Dankert attended the Polytechnische Oberschule from 1958 to 1968 and completed an apprenticeship as a ship electrician at the Neptune shipyard in Rostock. He also completed this training with the Abitur and from 1971/72 he was employed as a ship electrician in the repair department of the Neptun shipyard.

From 1972 to 1976 he completed a degree in technical electronics at the University of Rostock with a degree in engineering. From 1976 to 1983 he worked as a research and development engineer at the Institute for Oceanography Warnemünde. This was followed by work as a research and development engineer at the University of Rostock. After reunification , he became a consultant for employee issues at the SPD state association in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in 1990/91 and from 1991 to 1994 organizational secretary of the DGB Rostock.

Dankert is married and has five children.

politics

In 1989 Dankert joined the SPD local association Lichtenhagen (today local association Rostock Nord). He was a founding member of the Working Group for Workers' Questions (AfA) in the SPD East and was its state chairman until 2000. Since 1997 he has been a member of the SPD regional executive committee and since 1998 chairman of the SPD district association Rostock. As a local politician , he is a member of the self-administration of the AOK Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and most recently represented on the board of directors. He is also a member of the Ver.di union .

From 1994 to December 2010 he was a member of the state parliament of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. From 1994 to 1998 he was deputy chairman of the Committee on Labor, Health, Social Affairs, Family and Women. From 1998 to January 2010 he was Parliamentary Managing Director of the SPD parliamentary group . From December 1, 2010 to December 2016, Dankert was the state representative for data protection and freedom of information. In September 2017 he left the SPD because he did not agree to his succession plan.
