Reinhard Feldmann

Reinhard Feldmann (born January 1, 1954 in Freienohl ) is a retired German librarian who was particularly active in the field of preservation .

Life

After studying history , political science and Roman provincial archeology in Konstanz and Budapest, he did an internship at the Herzog August Library in Wolfenbüttel from 1983 to 1985 . Between 1985 and 1990 he was the editor of the handbook of historical book collections at the University and City Library of Cologne . In 1990 Feldmann worked at the Berlin University of the Arts . In the same year he started working at the University and State Library in Münster . Later he also had a teaching position at the Cologne University of Applied Sciences . He was head of the historical collections department of the Münster University Library and most recently the state representative for the preservation of collections in North Rhine-Westphalia. In 2010 Feldmann was elected a full member of the Historical Commission for Westphalia . He was a member of the Working Group on Manuscripts and Old Prints in the German Library Association (DBV). He was also a member of the scientific advisory board of the Society for the Protection of Written Cultural Assets . Feldmann retired in September 2019.

Conservation

As part of efforts to preserve holdings, he was also chairman of the Preservation Commission of the German Library Institute for many years . He is the initiator of the Conservation Forum (the information offer was discontinued on December 31, 2017). After the dissolution of the German Library Institute, he belongs to the corresponding working group in the German Library Association as a guest.
