Reinhard Leibold

Reinhard Leibold (born May 21, 1947 in Würzburg ) is a former German long-distance runner who had his greatest successes in the marathon .

In 1976 he was the ninth best German runner in an international match between Germany, Italy , France and Czechoslovakia in Otrokovice . The following year he was sixth in the German Marathon Championships in 2: 17: 15.8 h and with a time of 2: 19: 47.4 h Bavarian champion.

The following year he defended his Bavarian title in 2: 16: 14.4 h. At the European Athletics Championships in Prague he came in 20th place in 2: 16: 56.3 h, and in autumn he became German marathon champion in 2: 17: 29.2 h.

In 1979 he was again Bavarian champion, seventh in an international match between six nations in Brussels and fourth in the German championships. In 1980 he won the Essonne Marathon with his personal best of 2:13:24 h, and in 1981 he was eighth in the German Championships and fifth in the Danish Open Championships in 2:18:31 h.

Another eighth place at the German Championships in 1982 was followed by fourth places at the German Championships and the Munich Marathon in 1983 . At the European Cup marathon he came in 18th place. In 1984 he came 13th in his second best time of 2:15:49 h at the Frankfurt Marathon .

In total, he took part in the Cross Country World Championships five times: 1974 in Monza , 1975 in Rabat , 1976 in Chepstow , 1979 in Limerick and 1983 in Gateshead . His best placement was 37th in 1974.

Reinhard Leibold started for the LAC Quelle . Today he is active as a senior runner in TSV Thüngersheim .
