Reinhold Otto Werner
Reinhold Otto Werner (born March 29, 1947 in Regen ; † November 11, 2015 in Augsburg ) was a German Romance philologist , Hispanist and lexicographer.
life and work
Reinhold Werner attended the humanistic high school in Passau . He studied Romance and Slavic Studies in Munich, Madrid and Salzburg and received his doctorate in 1974 at the University of Salzburg with the dissertation The Slavic Element in the Language of the Oldest Romanian Inscriptions (unprinted). From 1975 he was assistant to the Hispanic Günther Haensch (1923–2018) at the University of Augsburg . From 1982 to 1991 he was managing director of the language center of the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg (under the management board of Franz Josef Hausmann ) . In 1990 he completed his habilitation there with the script Americanism dictionaries of Spanish and dictionaries of Spanish America. Specific problems of the selection and presentation of lexicographic information (unpublished). From 1991 until his death he taught as a full professor for applied linguistics (and head of the language center) at the University of Augsburg (most recently as a professor). Together with and as a successor to Günther Haensch, Werner ensured the renewal and emancipation of Latin American lexicography. Werner has been co-editor of the journal Lebende Sprachen since 1996 and since 2003 director of the Bukowina Institute at the University of Augsburg . He was an honorary doctor of the State University of the Arts of the Far East in Khabarovsk .
