Reinhold Svensson

Reinhold Svensson (born December 20, 1919 in Husum (Sweden) ; † November 23, 1968 in Finspång , Sweden ) was a Swedish jazz pianist (also organ ).

Svensson was blind from birth, was first a piano tuner (graduated in 1939) and played as an organist (graduated from the Stockholm University of Music in 1941) before playing the piano in dance bands. From 1942 to 1948 he had his own orchestra. In 1948 he played with Putte Wickman , with whom he also appeared at the Festival International 1949 de Jazz , where he also presented several solo pieces. In 1950 he formed a quintet modeled on George Shearing (with vibraphone, drums, guitar, piano, bass), trios and other combos . In 1960 he accompanied Toots Thielemans .

He also wrote part of the soundtrack for the feature film Sommaren med Monika (1953) by Ingmar Bergman .

In 1950/51 he played with the Swedish jazz pianist and entertainer Charlie Norman (1920-2005) as Ralph & Bert Mountain or Olson Brothers and he also recorded as Ragtime Reinhold. He was also active in Arne Domnérus ' dance orchestra .

Tom Lord's jazz discography has 105 recordings from 1941 to 1960.
