The Reinock ( Italian Monte Stipa ) is a 2663  m high mountain in the southern Zillertal Alps in South Tyrol .

Location and surroundings

The Reisnock is located in the long side ridge that branches off at the Hohen Weißzint to the south from the main ridge of the Zillertal Alps and later turns to the east. At the level of the Reisnock, the ridge runs roughly in a south-easterly direction and separates the Pustertal in the south from the Mühlwalder valley in the north-east. A little over a kilometer west of the Reisnock is the Kempspitze ( 2704  m ), almost two kilometers northwest of the Graunock ( 2872  m ). In the further course of the ridge towards the southeast or east, however, there are no more peaks that exceed the Reisnock in height.

Alpinism

The Reisnock can be reached from the Puster side as well as from the Mühlwalder valley on marked hiking trails. Starting points on the Puster side are either the village of Terenten in the south ( 1210  m ) or the Tiefrastenhütte ( 2312  m ) in the west. From the northeast you start at the sports field in Mühlwald . Both climbs lead to the Great Gate ( 2355  m ), a transition between the valleys. From there, the normal route leads first through the eastern flank, later on the southeast ridge to the summit, with a few rocky spots being insured. An alternative ascent option leads from the Großer Tor through the southwest flank and over the saddle between Reisnock and Terner Nock ( 2596  m ), a summit in front of the southwest. The Pfunderer Höhenweg runs not far south of the Großer Tor , so that the Reisnock can be climbed with a little extra effort when walking this high path.

In winter the mountain is also a destination for ski tourers .
