Remscheider Strasse 97
The house at Remscheider Straße 97 is a monument in the Bergisch city of Wuppertal in North Rhine-Westphalia .
Location and history
The building is in the district and district Ronsdorf ( residential district Schenkstraße ) in the local situation hut at the Remscheid Street , the main road that from the center of Ronsdorf to the south along the Leyerbachs over Clarenbachstift direction Remscheid leads. The house at Remscheider Straße 95 , which was built practically at the same time in the 19th century, is attached at a slight angle to the immediate north; As an (almost) mirror-symmetrical semi-detached house, both buildings form an optical and historical unit. Other neighboring monuments include the building at Remscheider Strasse 93 , which is attached to the twin house Remscheider Strasse 95, immediately to the north, as well as the architectural monuments Remscheider Strasse 101 and 103 (both located to the south) and to the north along the street, the houses Remscheider Strasse 64 , 64a , 66 , 68 and 69 .
The semi-detached house, which was built at the end of the 19th century, is one of the few buildings in Ronsdorf and on this street that survived the air raid on Ronsdorf in May 1943 largely unscathed.
Description and current use
The house was built in half-timbered construction on a stone basement , which is accessible from the courtyard side due to the hillside location , and is completely slated . It has three full floors and a loft . This has an eaves saddle roof with several smaller roof windows . The front facade has the entrance door and three windows on the ground floor. There are four window axes each on the first and second floors . The three-storey extension facing the courtyard houses parts of the staircase and the formerly common toilets on half the floor .
Monument protection
The entire building was entered on November 5, 1984 under the number 178 in the list of monuments of the city of Wuppertal.
