René Hürter (born January 27, 1982 in Bad Segeberg as René Weitschies ) is a German television presenter and provider of paid esoteric services who calls himself a clairvoyant . Hürter also appears under the name Flathan .

Activity as a clairvoyant

According to his own statements, Hürter's first TV appearances as a clairvoyant took place in 2003 on the broadcaster BTV4U / Fresh4U and then until 2006 in the Primetime Teleshop . From 2009 to 2011 he worked at Kosmica TV . Then Hürter moved to the Budapest- based broadcaster Telemedia Interact TV , who u. a. for a Swiss television station Eso.TV produced. Hürter is currently (2016) working for the Shiva.TV service offered by the Swiss Mike Shiva . Hürter is active in so-called call-in programs: He answers inquiries from viewers who have dialed into the television program for a fee. Hürter uses Lenormand cards for his forecasts , which he shuffles and reveals individually. He claims to be able to predict the future of the caller from the position of the cards.

Around 2006, Hürter ran an awareness center for universal energy in Vallendar , where he offered , for example, card reading seminars . In 2009 he opened a practice in Koblenz and called himself the Seer of Koblenz . Since 2008, Hürter has also been offering advice and seminars from Gran Canaria . He later moved to Berlin , where he ran an esoteric business and offered fee-based advice - also as a management consultant and business clairvoyant - and seminars.

Hürter has authored several books that are available as books on demand from the US provider lulu.com .

According to Hürter's own earlier information on his homepage, the name Flathan used should mean "Angel of Hope". Meanwhile, Hürter states that his father is Irish. He called him "Flathan", which, however, is a plural form ( singular : flath ) and would mean lords, princes, generals or heroes .

criticism

Hürter's programs, methods and skills as a clairvoyant are questioned in media reports. Hürter's forecasts for 2010, made in collaboration with a daily newspaper, turned out to be largely incorrect. The Rhein-Zeitung reported in December 2011 under the headline fortune teller Flathan oracles a lot of wrong things , that only one of eleven prophecies of Hürter had turned out to be true. Hürter himself had stated that his prophecies were 98% correct.

In 2012, the consumer protection magazine Kassensturz of Swiss television published a critical article about Hürter's work as a television foretaker. On the one hand, he was accused of the content of his prophecies - for example, he had predicted the death of an acquaintance of a caller - and of taking advantage of the need of people in need. On the other hand, the magazine accused him - based on sound analysis - of calling under a false name and with a disguised voice as an alleged viewer in the call-in programs produced by Telemedia Interact TV and of praising the skills of colleagues working there. Finally, the call charges of 4.50 Swiss francs (around 3.70 euros ) per minute were criticized . The suspicion was also expressed that callers were being held on hold for as long as possible in order to collect higher fees. Hürter denied the allegations.

Hürter was featured in various newspapers in Ireland, including The Irish Times , the Independent Woman and the web men's magazine JOE (“Perhaps the most dazzling clairvoyant that ever lived”, “the Germanic queer version of the ex-Liverpool defender Steve Nicol ").
