René Kalmer

René Kalmer (born November 3, 1980 ) is a South African middle and long distance runner .

Life

As early as 1997 she won her first national championship title over 1500 m , in cross-country running and in 10-km road running . Others followed over 800 m in 2003, over 1500 m from 2001 to 2004, 2007 and 2010, over 5000 m in 2000, 2001, 2004, 2007, 2008 and 2010, in the cross-country run on the short distance in 2002 and 2004 and in the 10 km road run in 2007 and 2009.

At the international level, she started at the World Athletics Championships in 2001 in Edmonton and the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing over 1500 m, but was eliminated in each case.

In 2009 she came 15th at the World Half Marathon Championships in Birmingham and won the Soweto Marathon on her debut on the 42.195km course .

In 2010 she set a course record of 1:12:39 h in the half marathon competition of the Two Oceans Marathon .

René Kalmer is unmarried, lives in Roodepoort and starts for the Nedbank Running Club.
