René Keller (born May 19, 1914 in Paris , † May 19, 1997 in Geneva , reformed , resident in Marthalen and Cologny ) was a Swiss diplomat .

Life

René Keller was born on May 19, 1914 in Paris, the son of the banker Jacques Keller and Marie-born Geiser. Keller began studying law at the Universities of Geneva and Cambridge , which he completed in Geneva with the academic degree of Dr. iur. finished. Immediately afterwards he did an internship at Dresdner Bank in Berlin in 1938 .

As a result, René Keller worked for the Federal Political Department (EPD) from 1941 in Prague , The Hague , from 1954 to 1957 as head of the press and information service in Bern and from 1957 to 1959 in Paris. Afterwards, Keller was ambassador to Accra from 1960 to 1962 , with simultaneous accreditation in Ghana , Guinea , Liberia , Togo and Mali , then in Ankara until 1965 , in Geneva in 1967, with the functions of observer at the European Office of the United Nations and permanent representative at the UN specialized organizations, from 1968 to 1970 in London , from 1971 to 1975 in Bern, entrusted with the management of the directorate for international organizations and finally from 1976 to 1979 in Vienna .

René Keller was married to Marion, born Werder. He died on May 19, 1997 on his 83rd birthday in Geneva.
