René Quellet (born August 4, 1931 in Solothurn ; † August 17, 2017 in Le Landeron , Canton of Neuchâtel ) was a Swiss pantomime artist.

Life

René Quellet grew up in Le Landeron on the German-French language border and learned the trade of goldsmith in Solothurn . After performing as a clown for ten years , he turned to pantomime in the late 1950s , made it his job and toured the world with his own programs.

From 1973 to 1994 he played Franz and René with Franz Hohler for the children's program Spielhaus des Schweizer TV . As a taciturn René - the running gag was his saying I saw nut! ("I'm not saying anything.") - he marked the counterpart to the talkative Franz . In 1988 he played with Franz Hohler and Dodo Hug as Santschi in the Swiss feature film Dünki-Schott , a Swiss-German adaptation of the Don Quixote material.

Since his final tour in Switzerland in 1997, he lived with his wife in retirement.
