René Scheibli

René Scheibli (born September 23, 1936 in Zurich ; † August 30, 2010 there ) was a Swiss actor .

Life

René Scheibli first completed an acting training at the Zurich Acting Academy . He was then a permanent member of the ensemble at the Schauspielhaus Zürich from 1959 to 1968 under the direction of Oskar Wältin (1959–1961), Kurt Hirschfeld (1961–1965) and Leopold Lindtberg (1965–1968). In 1968 he moved to the Basel Theater together with the Swiss theater director Werner Düggelin . From 1977 to 2000 Scheibli was again permanently engaged at the Schauspielhaus Zurich.

Scheibli appeared there in over 150 roles. He played a wide repertoire , which included plays by William Shakespeare , the German-speaking authors of the Classical and Romantic periods , but also plays from modern times and contemporary theater. He has appeared in Zurich as Erich in Tales from the Vienna Woods , as Karl Moor at the side of Peter Brogle in The Robbers , as Laertes in Hamlet and as Lysander in A Midsummer Night's Dream . Occasionally Scheibli also emerged as a director . He staged in Solothurn, Lucerne , Basel and Zurich. He brought out his own productions at the Theater Basel and at the Städtebundtheater Biel-Solothurn .

Scheibli also took on some roles in movies and on television . He also worked as a speaker for radio play productions on the Swiss Radio DRS . Scheibli also worked as an acting teacher. He has been teaching at the Intermediate Studio of the Basel Conservatory since the late 1960s . Scheibli also worked for many years as a lecturer in the subject of "drama lessons" at the Zurich Acting Academy .

His son Niklaus is also an actor.
