Irini “Rena” Dourou ( Greek Ειρήνη “Ρένα” Δούρου , born October 7, 1974 in Egaleo ) is a Greek politician of the SYRIZA party and since May 2014 governor of the Attica region .

Life

Rena Dourou studied Education and Political Science at the University of Athens and Economics at the University of Essex .

Political career

Dourou became a member of the SYRIZA electoral alliance in 2004 and a member of the Greek Parliament in 2012, an activity that she carried out until March 18, 2014. After her successful election as governor of Attica, the most populous Greek region, in May of the same year, she took office on September 1, 2014. It was elected with 50.83% of the votes cast.

Scandal in Greek talk show

The politician Ilias Kasidiaris of the Chrysi Avgi party caused a scandal at the beginning of June 2012 when, in a discussion with Dourou and Liana Kanelli, he poured a glass of water over Dourou and gave Kanelli two slaps and a punch.
