Rene Rinnekangas (born September 25, 1999 ) is a Finnish snowboarder . He starts in the disciplines halfpipe , slopestyle and big air .

Career

Rinnekangas has been taking part in competitions of the TTR World Snowboard Tour and the FIS since 2012 . At the Junior World Championships 2013 in Erzurum he achieved the 38th place in the halfpipe and the 20th place in the Slopestyle and at the Junior World Championships 2014 in Chiesa in Valmalenco the ninth place in the halfpipe and the fifth place in the Slopestyle. In March 2015 he came 17th in the Slopestyle and 12th in the halfpipe at the Junior World Championships in Yabuli . He made his debut in the World Cup in January 2016 in Mammoth , which he finished in 25th place in slopestyle. At the 2016 Winter Youth Olympic Games in Lillehammer , he won the bronze medal in slopestyle. He also came eighth in the halfpipe there. The following year he finished 54th in Big Air and 14th in Slopestyle at the 2017 Snowboard World Championships in Sierra Nevada . In the 2017/18 season he took part in five World Cups, four times in the top ten and thus reached 13th place in the Freestyle World Cup and ninth place in the Slopestyle World Cup. At the season highlight, the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang , he jumped to 28th place in Slopestyle and 22nd place in Big Air. In March 2018 he was tenth in Big Air at the X-Games Norway in Fornebu . In the winter -X Games 2019 in Aspen , he won the silver medal in slopestyle. He also achieved fifth place there in Big Air. At the following World Championships in Park City , he won ninth place in Slopestyle. In April 2019 he became Finnish champion in slopestyle. In the following year he was eighth in slopestyle and fourth in big air at the Winter X Games and seventh in big air and sixth in slopestyle at the X-Games Norway in Hafjell .
