action

Shortly before Christmas Buck Seger was actually commissioned to bring reindeer from a game farm to California for the "San Ernesto Zoo". In addition, he also wants to hunt a reindeer from the wild and accidentally catches Buddy, one of Santa's new reindeer. Sandy Brooks is a zoo keeper and is there with body and soul for her protégés. She detests Buck, who keeps pestering her and wants to go out with her. But when it comes to animals, she can put aside her feelings.

Nick Snowden, the son of Santa Claus, is supposed to bring the presents to the people for the first time this year for Christmas alone. When he notices that Buddy has disappeared, he follows him to the zoo in San Ernesto. With the help of a magical mirror, Nick can travel from the North Pole to anywhere in the world and land right at the zoo. A first attempt to get Buddy away from there fails because the reindeer refuses to fly. So Nick decides to stay with the people a little longer and rents a room in a guesthouse near Sandy's. He hopes to get to Buddy more easily through her, but Buck doesn't like it at all. While Nick pretends to be a business traveler, the eight-year-old boy next door Hector quickly saw through him. And since he has many wishes for Christmas, he is also very interested in Nick getting his buddy back quickly. So he helps him to break into Buddy's enclosure again, but again it is not possible to free the animal.

To impress Sandy, he festively decorates her house, just like her mother used to do. Then he prepares a delicious Christmas dinner, but is horrified to find that his other seven reindeer have followed him across the mirror and are now in Sandy's house. At the last moment Nick succeeds in sending her back to the North Pole, so that no one but Hector has seen her. With this successful evening, Nick finally conquered Sandy's heart and she feels completely happy. That changes when she receives news from the zoo that one of the reindeer has disappeared. But behind this theft is not Nick, but animal keeper Buck. He has found out that Buddy has special skills and wants to sell him to a rich hunter. So Sandy and Nick set about freeing Buddy. Sandy realizes that Nick is the real Santa Claus. Together they arrive on the curse from the violent Buck in Nick's realm and Sandy is thrilled. For them a childhood dream comes true. To find Buddy, they have to go back to San Ernesto. Buddy has now escaped there and is jumping through the city in great leaps. Followed by Buck, he flees on and finally learns to fly. Nick now wants to go back to the North Pole, but he can no longer imagine life without Sandy. He asks her to come with him. But she feels overwhelmed with this decision, so that Nick travels back through the mirror alone. But he returns on Christmas Eve and now Sandy is ready to go with him.
