Renzo Fratini (born April 25, 1944 in Urbisaglia , Macerata Province , Italy ) is an Italian clergyman, emeritus Roman Catholic archbishop and diplomat of the Holy See .

Life

Renzo Fratini received on September 6, 1969 by the Bishop of Macerata-Tolentino , Ersilio Tonini , the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On August 7, 1993 appointed him Pope John Paul II. To Titular Archbishop of Botriana and ordered him to the apostolic nuncio in Pakistan . He received his episcopal ordination on October 2nd of the same year Cardinal Secretary of State Angelo Sodano ; Co- consecrators were the secretary of the Congregation for the Clergy , Archbishop Crescenzio Sepe , and the Bishop of Macerata-Tolentino-Recanati-Cingoli-Treia , Francesco Tarcisio Carboni . On August 8, 1998, Renzo Fratini became Apostolic Nuncio in Indonesia . In addition, on June 24, 2003, he became Apostolic Nuncio in East Timor . John Paul II appointed him on January 27, 2004 as Apostolic Nuncio in Nigeria .

On August 20, 2009 Pope Benedict XVI appointed him . as Apostolic Nuncio in Spain and Andorra and Permanent Observer of the Holy See to the World Tourism Organization . On July 4, 2019, Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation.
