Restinga Sêca , officially Portuguese Município de Restinga Sêca , is a city in the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul . It is located 285 km west of the capital Porto Alegre . The population was estimated as of July 1, 2019 at 15,789 inhabitants, who live in a municipal area of around 968.6 km² and are called Restinguenser ( restinguenses ).
The majority of the population comes from descendants of Portuguese, Italian and German descent.

Surrounding places are Formigueiro , Agudo , Dona Francisca , São João do Polêsine , Cachoeira do Sul and Santa Maria . A polygonal area between the municipalities is called Recanto Maestro .
traffic
The ERS-149 road leads north to the BR-287 federal road , and there is a runway west of the urban part of the political community. In the north of the village there is a train station of the Estrada de Ferro Porto Alegre-Uruguaiana , which from 1885 provided for the upswing of the originally small village.
