Reut Regev
Reut Regev (* in Israel ) is an Israeli-American jazz trombonist and composer .
Live and act
Regev grew up in Israel, learned the piano from the age of six and switched to the trombone at the age of thirteen . After performing at the most important Israeli festivals and doing military service - she was the first female trombonist in the army band - she moved to New York City in 1998 , where she initially worked with artists from the Yiddish music scene such as Frank London , Koby Israelite ( Dance of the Idiots , 2003) as well as in the formations Hazmat Modine and Metropolitan Klezmer , and then played with avant-garde musicians such as Butch Morris , Elliott Sharp , Dave Douglas and Anthony Braxton . In 2009 she presented her debut album This is R Time , which combines influences from jazz, rock, funk, reggae and dub and, with Regev's compositions, ties in with Ray Anderson's funk experiments with slickaphonics . Performing musicians were guitarist David Phelps , bassist Brad Jones and Regev's husband, drummer Igal Foni . In 2009 she and her quartet successfully opened the jazz festival in Göttingen and played with R * time featuring Jean Paul Bourelly at the JazzFest Berlin . In 2010 she performed at the TFF Rudolstadt . In 2019 she released R * time's third album, Keep It Winning ( Enja ) .
She was also involved in recordings of Michaël Attias ( Credo , 1999), Assif Tsahar and the Zoanthropic Orchestra ( Embracing the Void , 2001 and The Labyrinth , 2002), Taylor Ho Bynum's band Positive Catastrophe ( Garabatos Volume One , 2009), in Adam Lane 's Full Throttle Orchestra ( Ashcan Rantings , 2010), Burton Greene ( Burton's Time ), Anthony Braxton ( Trillium ) and Monika Herzig ( Sheroes , 2018) with.
