Assif Tsahar (born June 11, 1969 in Tel Aviv ) is an Israeli jazz musician.

Tsahar, who grew up in Tel Aviv, began playing the guitar at the age of fourteen and switched to the saxophone at the age of seventeen, later adding the bass clarinet. In 1990 he came to New York, where he soon belonged to the musical scene around Cecil Taylor , Butch Morris , William Parker and Susie Ibarra .

With Patricia Parker , the wife of William Parker, he founded the alternative vision festival , and in 1999 the record label Hopscotch Records . In addition to working in a trio with William Parker and Susie Ibarra, he formed a trio with Peter Kowald and Rashied Ali . He also appeared in groups with Cecil Taylor and Butch Morris and worked a. a. with Gunda Gottschalk , Umberto Petrin , Ken Vandermark and Kent Kessler . On a European tour in 2003 he could be heard with Mat Maneri and Jim Black .
