Taylor Ho Bynum (* 1975 in Baltimore ) is an American jazz musician ( trumpet , flugelhorn , pocket trumpet and cornet ) and composer.

Live and act

Taylor Ho Bynum began his career with Anthony Braxton , with whom he studied at Wesleyan University , and Cecil Taylor . Subsequently, a number of productions were created with Braxton, such as the album Duets (Wesleyan) 2002 , Quintet (London) 2004 , Sextet (Victoriaville) 2005 , 4 Compositions (Ulrichsberg) 2005 , Trio (Glasgow) 2005 , 9 Compositions (Iridium) 2006 , Trio (Victoriaville) 2007 , 12 + 1tet (Victoriaville) 2007 and Quartet (Moscow) 2008 .

At the end of the 1990s he worked a. a. with Joe Fonda , on whose album Full Circle Suite (with Gebhard Ullmann , Chris Jonas and Kevin Norton ) he participated . Between 2003 and 2005 the recordings for the album Other Stories (Three Suites) were made , on which Bynum played cornet and worked with musicians such as Jay Hoggard , Tomas Ulrich and Joe Daley as well as the formation SpiderMonkey strings , for which he wrote the suites The First Three Lives of Stuart Hornsley for sextet, Supo Eno and SpiderMonkey Stories for nonet. In addition, Bynum works with the ten-person ensemble Positive Catastrophe and, together with Stephen Haynes, leads the formation The Double Trio ( Live at the Festival of New Trumpet Music , 2008)

Bynum is currently a member of the Nate McBride Quartet (with Charlie Kohlhase and Curt Newton ), and the Trio Ex Nihilo , (with Jeff Song and Curt Newton). Also in the Ensemble Guewel by Harris Eisenstadt . He has also worked with Steve Lehman , Sebastian Gramss , Jane Wang and the Anthony Braxton Sextet.
