The Rhine port Bendorf is a river port in Bendorf and extends from Rhine kilometer 598.90 to 599.875 on the right. After the Rhine port of Andernach, it is the second largest port on the Middle Rhine .

history

Already at the time of the Bendorfer Hütten ores and metal products were loaded on the Rhine. The transshipment point, as it is called according to the state water law, was built in 1899/1900.
With the establishment of the Mittelrheinische Tanklager Gesellschaft in the 1970s, the port was restructured.

At the end of 2009, extensive renovation and conversion work was carried out. For this purpose, sheet piling was installed at the end downstream of the Rhine and then 12,000 m² of new, flood-free storage space was gained by filling the area. New dolphins were set at the mineral oil discharge point so that ships with a load capacity of up to 5000 tons can create.

The main operating companies are BUS and Oiltanking Deutschland GmbH . The port is 90% owned by Rheinhafen Bendorf GmbH, 10% is owned by Bendorfer Umschlag- u. Speditions GmbH (BUS). Stones, earth, clay, coal and mineral oil products are handled. In 2010, 1,745,895 tons of goods were loaded, 704,106 tons of which were mineral oil products.

Infrastructure

The port has 30,000 m² of storage space and, with 145,000 m³ of tank storage space, has the largest tank storage between Cologne and Mainz . Three cranes with a lifting force of up to 20 tons and a belt loading system are available for handling. Two extinguishing systems are used to load mineral oil products. There is also a semi-portal crane with a lifting capacity of 84 tonnes for loading heavy goods .

The port is connected to the railway line on the right bank of the Rhine via a private siding .
On the road side, the A 3 , A 48 , A 61 and the federal highways B 42 and B 9 are easily accessible.
