The Gebrüder Rhodius GmbH & Co. KG is a group of companies based in Burgbrohl .
history
The company was founded in Burgbrohl as a white lead factory in 1827 by the brothers Christian, Carl Christian, Engelbert and Friedrich Eduard Rhodius and Karl Gustav Bischof . Production initially took place in Linz on the Rhine and was only later relocated to Burgbrohl. In 1859 a storm destroyed large parts of the factory; however, it was rebuilt and expanded in the process. After this expansion, the company began to export some of its products. Also in the following years the product range was constantly expanded. From 1883 carbon dioxide was liquefied, pressed into bottles and sold as an independent product, from 1907 red lead and black lead were produced, and in 1937 a paint factory in Fulda was taken over.
In the early 1950s, the company stopped producing white lead and began producing grinding wheels in 1952 and bottling non-alcoholic beverages in 1958.

Two subsidiaries emerged from the separation of the production lines that began in the 1950s.
Rhodius mineral springs and drinks
The Rhodius mineral springs and beverage GmbH & Co. KG was founded in 1958 as Pepsi - concessionaire founded. It is a supraregional mineral water, soda and beverage manufacturer. Since around 1970 the company began to systematically introduce its own brands. In addition to its own brands, the company also fills licensed products such as Pepsi-Cola , Schwip Schwap , Mirinda , 7up and Lipton Ice Tea . In 2011, brand rights, production rights and sales of the traditional Offenbach company Wasser Haindl Getränke Vertriebs GmbH were taken over , thereby expanding the range to include bitter drinks. The company employs around 170 people, fills more than 2.2 million hectoliters of beverages annually and generates sales of 70 million euros (as of 2011).
Since the concession agreement with Pepsi-Cola expires after more than 56 years, a new concession agreement was entered into with Mineralbrunnen Überkingen-Teinach in July 2014 , which will include the bottling and sale of Afri-Cola and Bluna from 2015 . Acting managing partner of the company is Karl Tack.
Rhodius grinding tools
The Rhodius grinding tools GmbH & Co. KG was founded in 1952 and is engaged in the manufacture and distribution of grinding tools and related products (cutting discs, grinding discs, flap discs, diamond tools, abrasives on base, carbide cutters, technical wire brushes). The company has its own sales offices in France (Rhodius France SARL), the Netherlands (Rhodius Nederland CV), Spain, the Czech Republic, South Korea and the United Arab Emirates (Rhodius Middle East FZCO). Around 79 million grinding wheels were manufactured in 2012, with annual sales of around 51 million euros. This makes Rhodius the largest manufacturer of synthetic resin-bonded, glass fiber reinforced cutting and grinding discs in Germany. The export share is around 60 percent.
