Ricardo Ibarra
Ricardo Daniel Ibarra (born August 28, 1950 in Buenos Aires , † December 15, 2011 ) was an Argentine rower .
Career
At the 1972 Olympic Games , Ibarra and Jorge Imaz competed in a double scull , but retired in the hope run . After the end of Alberto Demiddi's sporting career , Ricardo Ibarra started internationally in the single . In 1975 he won the title in one at the Pan American Games . At the 1975 World Championships , he rowed to fifth place. He also reached the final at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal, where he won his semi-final ahead of the two Germans Peter-Michael Kolbe and Joachim Dreifke , in the final he landed in last place, while the two Germans silver and bronze behind the Finn Pertti Karppinen received.
At the World Championships in 1978 , Ibarra finished fifth as in 1975. In 1979 he won his second title at the Pan American Games . Argentina did not take part in the 1980 Olympic Games because of the Olympic boycott . In 1981 Ibarra again finished fifth at the World Championships . In 1983 he won the title of one at the Pan American Games for the third time in a row . At the end of his career Ibarra reached the final at the Olympic Games again in 1984 and finished fifth.
After his career, the 1.93 m tall Ibarra was the national coach of the Argentine rowers for many years.
