Ricardo Ramirez CSB (born September 12, 1936 in Bay City ) is Old Bishop of Las Cruces .

Life

Ricardo Ramirez joined the religious community of the Congregation of St. Basil's Priests , made his profession on September 12, 1960 and was ordained a priest on December 10, 1966 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him auxiliary bishop in San Antonio and titular bishop of Vatarba on October 27, 1981 . The Archbishop of San Antonio, Patrick Fernández Flores , ordained him episcopal on December 6th of the same year; Co- consecrators were John Louis Morkovsky , Bishop of Galveston-Houston , and Rafael Ayala y Ayala , Bishop of Tehuacán .

On August 17, 1982 he was appointed the first bishop of the diocese of Las Cruces , which was established on the same date , and was appointed to the office on October 18 of the same year. On January 10, 2013, Pope Benedict XVI. his age-related retirement.
