Riccardo Rossi (born October 14, 1901 in Stabio ; † July 4, 1986 in Mendrisio ) was a Swiss lawyer , politician , Ticino Grand Councilor and Swiss National Council of the Christian Democratic People's Party (CVP).

biography

Riccardo Rossi was born as the son of the lawyer and court of appeal Felice Rossi of Arzo (now the municipality of Mendrisio) and of Climene Gaslini. After completing the college in Sarnen , he studied law at the University of Freiburg and acquired a license (1923) and admission as a lawyer and notary (1926). He then opened his own law firm in Mendrisio.

As a leading member of the conservative democratic party, he was the commander of his youth organ, the Guardia Luigi Rossi (1926–1930, 1933–1936), city councilor for the municipalities of Capolago (1924) and Mendrisio (1932–1940, 1968–1970), member of the Ticino Grand Council (1926–1940) and the National Council (1928, 1931–1940). In 1940 he resigned from all political offices and took over the management of the branch of the Swiss National Bank (SNB) in Lugano.

He was one of the sponsors (1931) and committee member (until 1965) of the Radio Society of Italian Switzerland (RSI). He was a member of the SRG Central Committee and various commissions within the European Broadcasting Union.
