Richard Büchner (political economist)

Richard Büchner (born January 20, 1899 in Dresden ; † August 1, 1984 in Rapperswil SG ) was a Swiss national economist and financial scientist of German origin.

Life

Richard Büchner, the son of the owner of a fur trade, attended secondary school in Dresden and a higher technical course at the commercial school. After two years of practical experience in his father's business, he devoted himself to studying economics at the universities of Dresden and Hamburg and at the Leipzig Graduate School of Management , where he obtained his diploma in 1920.

After Richard Büchner in Hamburg in 1922 with a financial dissertation for Dr. rer. pole. After receiving his doctorate, he took up an assistant position at the Institute for Public Finance at the University of Breslau , where he completed his habilitation in 1925 as a private lecturer in the subjects of economics and public finance. In 1929, Richard Büchner accepted a full professorship for political economy at the University of Zurich , which he held until his retirement in 1969.

Richard Büchner, who received the citizenship of the city of Zurich and thus Swiss citizenship , was also a board member of the Swiss Social Archives , the Zurich Section of the Swiss Association for Social Policy and the Swiss Institute for International Research in Zurich. Richard Büchner was co-editor of the "Averages from the Commercial Science Seminar of the University of Zurich" and the "Swiss Contributions to Economic and Social Science". In addition, he worked on the concise dictionary of political science , the handbook of public finance and the handbook of Swiss economics .
