Richard Barth (pedagogue)

Richard Barth (born August 23, 1883 in Herold ) was a German educator and university teacher and member of the German Christians and the NSDAP .

Life

Barth was born in the Saxon Erzgebirge . He passed his Abitur examination and studied education and philosophy . After submitting his thesis he became a Doctor of Pedagogy PhD . He became director of studies at a secondary school in Sondershausen . Barth belonged to the Thuringian Evangelical Church and was a member of the Thuringian Volkskirchenbund .

In 1928 he was appointed lecturer at the Pedagogical Institute of Jena and two years later professor . He identified with the völkisch - nationalist positions of the German Christians and joined the NSLB in 1934 , in 1937 he became a member of the NSDAP. As deputy head of the institute, he organized practical pedagogical courses for elementary school teachers. In 1939 he declared his collaboration with the Institute for Research and Elimination of the Jewish Influence on German Church Life . Now he examined the Jewish influences in education in didactic courses . He contributed to the fact that the Old Testament lost its raison d'etre in religious instruction in schools .

After the liberation from National Socialism he lost his office. From 1946 he worked as a primary school teacher in Jena.
