Richard Christ

Richard Christ (born December 30, 1931 in Speyer ; † March 15, 2013 ) was a German writer and publicist .

life and work

After graduating from high school in 1950, the son of an industrial clerk was a laborer, laboratory worker, radio editor and reporter in the Leuna Works for a year . From 1951 to 1956 he studied German and philosophy at the Martin Luther University in Halle-Wittenberg and in East Berlin. In 1955 he passed his state examination. From 1956 to 1970 he worked as an editor for trade union magazines and lecturer for fiction at the publishing house “ Tribüne ” and “ Verlag der Nation ”.

Christ was best known for his travelogues. In addition to his numerous book publications, he has also worked as a feature writer for the radio .

He was a member of the PEN Center Germany .

From 1970 to 1993 Christ was a member of the Weltbühne . Most recently he lived as a freelance writer in Berlin.
