Richard Diller

Richard Diller (born March 15, 1890 in Wels , † June 7, 1969 in Linz ) was an Austrian painter and teacher .

Live and act

After graduating from high school in Wels, he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna until 1917 and originally wanted to become a drawing teacher. After the death of his father in 1912 he decided to pursue a career as a freelance artist. His teachers were Alois Delug , Rudolf Jettmar and Georg Niemann .

After additional exams in descriptive geometry and courses in manual skills, he passed the teaching examination in 1930 and was pragmatic in 1933 . Among other things, he was a member of the Innviertel Artists Guild .

  • Medal pro arte et scientia in gold from the city of Wels (1965)
  • In Linz the Dillerweg and in Wels the Dillerstraße were named after Richard Diller.
  • In Wels , the numerous pictures bequeathed to the city of Wels (735 oil paintings and drawings, portraits of Wels citizens, landscapes, etc.) by Dillers at the end of the 1960s prompted the city of Wels to set up the gallery of the city of Wels in the former savings bank building.
