Johann Christian Richard Fischer (born March 13, 1826 in Danzig , Province of Prussia ; † August 5, 1870 there ) was a German landscape painter from the Düsseldorf School .

Life

Richard Fischer, son of doctor Karl Christian Traugott Fischer (1787–1867), who taught midwives at the Institute for Obstetrics in Danzig, and his wife Julianne Friederike († 1861), grew up in their parents' house at Langen Markt 29 in Danzig. Fischer's father was interested in art and was a member of the Society of Friends of Art in Danzig, which was founded in 1835. I.

n 1847 Fischer went to Düsseldorf and became a student at the Royal Prussian Art Academy . Karl Ferdinand Sohn and Theodor Hildebrandt were initially his teachers there. In the school year 1850 he then attended Johann Wilhelm Schirmer's landscape class . From 1848 to 1864 he was a member of the artists' association Malkasten .

From 1852 Fischer exhibited his landscapes at exhibitions organized by the Society of Friends of Art in Gdansk. He toured Germany, Switzerland and Tyrol. He lived repeatedly in Berlin, from 1862 in Danzig. In 1867 he lived there in house Langgarten 89/90.
