Richard Green (born February 19, 1971 in Williamstown , Victoria ) is a left-handed Australian professional golfer on the European Tour and the PGA Tour of Australasia .
Life / career
Green became a professional golfer in 1992 and has been a member of the European Tour since 1996 . Green achieved his first victory on the tour in a spectacular way in 1997 at the highly endowed Dubai Desert Classic . In the jump-off he defeated the two major winners Greg Norman and Ian Woosnam . This also meant the first victory of a left-hander on the European tour since 1975. Green missed another win in August 2006 at the Dutch Open after a tie, in the playoff at the first extra hole against Englishman Simon Dyson . Finally, after a 10-year hiatus, and again in the playoff, against Jean-François Remésy, Green won the BA-CA Open 2007 at GC Fontana , Oberwaltersdorf .
Green is a very consistent player and achieved his best result of the season to date with 17th place on the European Tour Order of Merit in 2004 . In the same year he also won one of the most important tournaments in his home country, the Australian Masters and the money list of the PGA Tour of Australasia .
So far he has represented Australia in the World Cup three times with different game partners .
He is married to his wife Anita and they have a daughter. Green has residences in Melbourne and England.
