Richard Henriksson (born October 5, 1982 in Stockholm ) is a former Swedish football player . The defender and midfielder won the Swedish championship and the national cup with Djurgårdens IF .

Career

Henriksson came from the youth of Djurgårdens IF . For the club he made his debut in the professional team in 1999, but was initially only used irregularly. In 2002 he experienced his best year at the club: he was able to fight for a regular place in the team and at the end of the season won the double of the championship and the cup . At the same time he was appointed to the Swedish U21 team. After he had completed only eight games in the Allsvenskan in 2003, he decided to leave the club despite winning the championship again.

Henriksson's next stop was IF Brommapojkarna in the Superettan , where he signed a two-year contract. There he immediately had a regular place and within the next two years played almost every competitive game for the club. After his contract expired, Henriksson moved to Aarhus GF in the spring of 2006 . In the summer, however, he returned to Sweden and went to third division Västerås SK .

In spring 2007 Henriksson returned to his former club IF Brommapojkarna, who now played in the Allsvenskan. Again he was able to establish himself in the starting eleven, but rose with the club at the end of the season. In the second division season in 2008 he played in all 30 league games and managed to return to the Allsvenskan with the team at the side of Kim Odelius , Joakim Runnemo and Olof Guterstam after two draws in the relegation against Ljungskile SK due to the away goals rule . Here he played another 23 games before announcing his retirement shortly after the end of the 2009 season on November 10th of that year. In his eyes, his full-time job as a journalist was not compatible with a professional career.
