Richard Ian Cox (born October 3, 1973 in St Asaph ( Llanelwy ), Wales ) is a Canadian actor and voice actor . He became known for his role as the young jockey Alec Ramsay in the series Black, the black lightning .

Life

Cox was born in Wales on October 3, 1973, but the family moved to Canada shortly after he was born. His father, who was born in England (his mother is from Wales), was a mechanical engineer at the time. At the age of nine he appeared on the theater stage for the first time in school productions. In 1987 the family moved to Vancouver . In 1990 the then 16-year-old applied for the role of Alec Ramsay in the series "Black, the black lightning". With his height of only 1.68 m and the fact that he could already ride, he fulfilled two important criteria and got the role, which he then played until 1993. The second leading actor in the series was Mickey Rooney .

After the series was discontinued, he occasionally took on guest roles in series and feature films, but focused primarily on the work as a voice actor (mostly Japanese cartoons and animes ). He has been married to Becky Cox since June 2006 and has four children with her, two girls and two boys. He gives acting lessons to young talents. In 2014 he produced his own film "Last Night in Suburbia" together with his co-producer Samuel Vincent Khouth, as well as Andrew Francis and Mack Benz. A teenage film where things go wrong. The film should be released in 2015.

Prices

From 1991 to 1993 he was nominated for the Young Artist Award for Best Young Leading Actor in a Cable TV Series (1991 and 1992 ... outside prime time ), and in 1992 he received the award.
