Richard Winternitz
Richard Winternitz (born May 20, 1861 in Stuttgart , † October 22, 1929 in Munich ) was a German impressionist painter and professor at the Munich Art Academy.
life and work
Winternitz studied in Stuttgart with Jakob Grünenwald , Alexander von Liezen-Mayer and Friedrich von Keller .
In 1890 he moved to Munich. In 1892 he was one of the founding members of the Munich Secession , was secretary there and took part several times in art exhibitions of the Secession in the Glaspalast . In Munich he became a professor at the art academy . In 1904, as a member of the Secession Committee, he took part in the management and as an exhibiting artist at the first joint exhibition of the German Association of Artists in the Kgl. Art exhibition building on Königsplatz .
His pictures hang in the Neue Pinakothek and in the Lenbachgalerie in Munich as well as in the Secession Gallery in Schleißheim.
