Richard Reinhold Emil Eduard Beck , von Beck since 1884 (born September 27, 1851 in Rastatt , † August 27, 1909 in Kirchheim unter Teck ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

origin

Richard came from a family that came from the Allgäu and started the direct line of roots with the farmer Peter Beck (1657–1752) in Rottach near Immenstadt . He was the son of the surgeon and general practitioner Bernhard von Beck (1821-1894), who had been raised to the hereditary nobility of Baden with subsequent Prussian approval in 1884 , and his first wife Elise, née Gaeß (1824-1858). His brother was the future lieutenant general Ferdinand von Beck (1850-1933) and his half-brother from his father's third marriage was the surgeon Bernhard von Beck (1863-1930).

Military career

Beck joined the Fusilier Regiment No. 86 of the Prussian Army on April 1, 1870 as a one-year volunteer . As such he took part in the fighting at Beaumont , Sedan and the siege of Paris in 1870/71 during the war against France . For a short time Beck was transferred to the 2nd Grenadier Regiment from February 25 to November 10, 1871 in Baden services . With the transfer of the regiment in the composite of the Prussian army Beck was still active there, was patent from March 9, 1872 to second lieutenant promoted and acted in the coming years as a battalion - and regimental adjutant .

In the further course of his military career, Beck was from June 15, 1898 to October 17, 1902 commander of the Jäger Battalion No. 5 and then commander of the 5th Baden Infantry Regiment No. 113 . With promotion to major general Beck was appointed commander of the 26th Infantry Brigade in Minden on April 10, 1906 . On August 13, 1907, Beck was commanded to Württemberg , where he was given command of the 27th Division (2nd Royal Württembergische) in Ulm while being promoted to Lieutenant General . While visiting his troops on August 27, 1909, Beck suffered a heart attack from which he died.

Beck married Eugenie Gruber (1851–1925) on October 8, 1874 in Mannheim .
