Ried is a district of the municipality of Jettingen-Scheppach in the Swabian district of Günzburg ( Bavaria ).

location

The village is located in the south of the municipality, about two kilometers southeast of Jettingen and can be reached via the GZ 20 district road . The Riederbach, also called Oberwaldbachgraben in the upper reaches , a tributary of the Mindel , flows through the town.

history

The clearing place Ried is mentioned for the first time in 1293 in a document from Konrad von Eberstall. He is believed to be founded by the Augsburg bishop and the Lords of the boar , the hochstiftischen fief occupied. In the late Middle Ages it fell to the Lords of Burtenbach-Hammerstetten. Via the Lords of Stain , the place came to the Barons Schenk von Stauffenberg in 1716 and in 1803, in the course of secularization, to the Kingdom of Bavaria .

On January 1, 1976, the previously independent municipality of Ried was incorporated into the municipality of Jettingen-Scheppach as part of the municipal reform . The district of Ried near Jettingen largely corresponds to the area of ​​the former municipality of Ried.
