history

The castle researcher Helmut Rischert refuted that Hermann von "Ruetelshouen", who was attested in documents in 1291, came from today's Riedelshof (collection sheet HV Eichstätt 1999, p. 281). In 1462, the Eichstatt Bishop Johann III. von Eych the "Rüdelshof" of Lorenz von Schaumberg († 1496), episcopal caretaker at Nassenfels Castle and from 1464 episcopal court master. In the period that followed, the wasteland was subordinate to the Kipfenberg maintenance and caste department of the lower bishopric . Also in 1462 Altenberg and with it the Riedelshof was parish of the Gelbelsee parish and since then has been a branch of the Catholic parish Kipfenberg. Due to the lack of water on the Jura plateau, the farm was only used to keep sheep in the time of the prince-bishop; he had grazing rights in the surrounding communities.

After secularization (1803), the Kipfenberg caste office and with it the Riedelshof estate came to the Grand Duke Archduke Ferdinand III. from Salzburg-Tuscany and 1806 to the Kingdom of Bavaria . Here, Riedelshof, whose owner changed frequently, initially belonged to the tax district of Denkendorf with Altenberg and Dunsdorf , from 1817/18 in the time of Leuchtenberg to the tax district of Kipfenberg and from July 16, 1830 again to the community of Denkendorf.

The Mennonites owned the farm until 1886 . On July 3, 1960 the stable and barn burned down to the ground. Since the Bavarian territorial reform , which came into force on July 1, 1972, Denkendorf and Riedelsdorf came from the Central Franconia region to the Upper Bavaria region . In 1983 the property was run as a full-time farm. Today the main focus of the family-run Riedelshof is seed propagation; In addition, notes are fattened in a so-called deep stall. The wind turbine erected here in 1999 was the first of its size in Bavaria (annual output around 1.8 million kilowatt hours of electricity).

The chapel of the courtyard was built in the baroque period around 1720 and is dedicated to St. Dedicated to Wendelin . It was restored in 2005. The altarpiece shows the three saints Wendelin, Leonhard and Sebastian .
