history

From Dunsdorf to the north there are 16 prehistoric burial mounds, some of which were excavated by Franz Anton Mayer in the 19th century .

The place is for the first time in 1055 as "Tungersdorf" in a document from Emperor Heinrich III. mentioned, who wealthy the Bishop of Eichstätt here. 1179 the place is called "Tugesdorf", as Pope Alexander III. confirmed his possession to the Eichstätter cathedral chapter. After the counts of Grögling-Hirschberg died out , the place was assigned to the Eichstätter Hochstift in 1305. In 1417 the Bavarian Duke Ludwig the Bearded had property in the village. The Eichstätter Spital was wealthy here with a Seldengut . In 1706 22 families lived in the village, in 1808 there were 92 inhabitants and in 1912 127 inhabitants.

Until the secularization , Dunsdorf belonged to the lower bishopric of Eichstätt and within it to the Kipfenberg care and caste office.

During the secularization, the lower bishopric and with it Dunsdorf came to Grand Duke Archduke Ferdinand III in 1802 . from Tuscany and 1806 to the Kingdom of Bavaria .

1808 formed Dunsdorf and Denkendorf the tax district Denkendorf. In 1818 both places became independent again. In 1830 Dunsdorf had 96 inhabitants in 21 properties, in 1950 154 in 23 properties. In 1964/70 a land consolidation was carried out.

To the district office, later belonging to the Middle Franconian district of Eichstätt, Dunsdorf joined the market Kipfenberg during the Bavarian regional reform on January 1, 1972. Six months later, the move from Middle Franconia to Upper Bavaria took place. In 1983 there were 148 people living in the village who, among other things, worked in two full-time and eleven part-time farms. The population has risen to over 200 today.

The white-gray glass sand in the large sand pit between Dunsdorf and Krut was mined for the glassworks in Grösdorf .
