Rinaldo Rinaldini is a German silent adventure film directed at the end of 1926 by Max Obal with Luciano Albertini in the title role or in a double role. He is supported by Grit Haid and Hans Albers . Christian August Vulpius provided the literary model in 1799.

action

Rinaldo Rinaldini, the robber chief from the 18th century, has been moved to the present day. He is very gentlemanly manganove, a charmer with a black eye mask and always elegantly dressed - tailcoat, top hat and cape - a man who breaks the safe and entrance doors as well as the hearts of the ladies. The film tells of his jewel raids as well as of his chivalry and shows a wiryness strongly reminiscent of Harry Piel and breathtaking recklessness during the chases . In the Marchese Salantieri, Rinaldo Rinaldini has his own reflection. And of course the king of the robbers can also conquer the hearts of the beautiful, here with the sonorous name Linda de Candido.

Production notes

Rinaldo Rinaldini was made in November and December 1926 in the Staaken film studios. The film passed the censorship on February 21, 1927, the premiere took place on February 25, 1927 in Berlin's Primus-Palast. The film was 2,299 meters long, divided into six acts. A youth ban was issued.

Rudolf Dworsky was the artistic director, Leo Meyer took over the production management. The buildings were made by the two Austrians Alfred Kunz and Franz Meschkan .

criticism

Vienna's Neue Freie Presse wrote in 1927: “All that can be said about the plot is that it is involved without being interesting. Only Albertini's acrobatic feats keep the audience in suspense, which the childish back and forth of jewel theft, the simplicity of the police and the endless games of hide and seek would hardly succeed. A few nice pictures, three to four funny details and a lot of sympathetic fixity of the main actor, these are the advantages of this film. "
