Rinkaby is a village in the Swedish province of Skåne län and the historic province of Skåne . The scene of the crime in the municipality of Kristianstad had 768 inhabitants in 2015.
history
In the area around Rinkaby there are numerous sites from the Stone and Bronze Ages . The place has been permanently settled since the 9th century.
The church of Rinkaby was built in the mid-13th century. The original church ceiling was replaced at the end of the 15th century by a Gothic vaulted ceiling decorated with frescoes of the Vittskövle group .
In 1651 the entire place was destroyed by a devastating fire.
The agricultural community was one of the focal points of Swedish tobacco growing between 1800 and 1960 . The fourteen preserved tobacco kilns are listed as a historical monument.
In 1945/46, members of the German Wehrmacht who had fled to Sweden and were handed over to the Soviet authorities as part of the Baltic extradition were interned on the neighboring military site .
Infrastructure
Länsväg 118 and Åhusbanan , which is closed for regular passenger traffic , run through Rinkaby, and both connect Kristianstad with Åhus . A long-term resumption of passenger traffic on Åhusbanan, possibly as a tram-train , is currently being investigated.
A military training area with a firing range and airfield has been located east of Rinkaby since 1900. Since 2000, part of this area has been used for major events of the Swedish Scout Association Svenska Scoutrådet ; In 2001 and 2007 large camps with more than 20,000 participants each took place there. In 2011 the 22nd World Scout Jamboree 2011 with over 40,000 participants from 143 countries was held on this site .
