The Rio Mira is a river in the Alentejo / Portugal . It rises in the Serra do Caldeirão 470 m above sea level and flows into the Atlantic at Vila Nova de Milfontes . The Mira is a river that flows from south to north, like the neighboring river Rio Sado . The river is 145 km long. Tributaries of the Rio Mira are u. a. Ribeira do Torgal and the Luzianes and Perna Seca rivers on the right and the Macheira, Guilherme and Telhares rivers on the left.
The valley of the Rio Mira between the town of Odemira and the mouth at Vila Nova de Milfontes is part of the Parque Natural do Sudoeste Alentejano e Costa Vicentina National Park .
Approx. 10 km upstream from Odemira is the Santa Clara dam .
