Risa Miyashita ( Japanese 宮 下 梨 沙 , Miyashita Risa; born April 26, 1984 in Osaka Prefecture ) is a Japanese athlete who specializes in throwing the javelin .

Athletic career

Risa Miyashita played her first international competition at the Asian Championships 2011 in Kobe , where she finished fourth with 52.37 m. She qualified in the same year for the World Championships in Daegu , where she was eliminated with 55.62 m in qualification. Two years later she won the bronze medal at the Asian Championships in Pune with 55.30 m, as well as at the Asian Championships in Wuhan 2015 with 54.76 m. Again two years later she finished fifth at the Asian Championships in Bhubaneswar, India, with 54.72 m and qualified again for the World Championships in London , where she was eliminated with 53.83 m in qualification . In 2018 she took part in the Asian Games in the Indonesian capital Jakarta for the first time and finished ninth there with 51.05 m. The following year she reached fourth place at the Asian Championships in Doha with a width of 55.27 m.

In 2011 and 2016, Miyashita became the Japanese javelin thrower. She graduated from Osaka University of Health and Sport Sciences with a degree in physical education .
