Jürgen Clausen (actor)

Jürgen Clausen (born August 6, 1943 ; † December 1987 in Munich ) was a German actor, dubbing actor and dubbing director and writer.

life and career

Jürgen Clausen was seen in several television roles as a teenager. In 1966 he had a supporting role in the Friedrich Dürrenmatt film adaptation Greek seeks Greek at the side of Heinz Rühmann . After he first worked as a voice actor in the mid-1960s, he shifted more and more to this activity.

Clausen was the dubbing voice of Helmut Berger in some films such as Die Verdammten , Das Bildnis des Dorian Gray and Ludwig II , as he did not dub his international film appearances himself because of his Austrian accent. He also lent Timothy Bottoms in The Last Performance (1971), Al Pacino in Asphalt Blossoms (1973), Jean-Pierre Léaud in The American Night (1973), Sylvester Stallone in Frankenstein's Death Race (1975) and Paul Simon in Der Urban Neurotics (1977) his voice. Clausen was mostly cast in dynamic and youthful synchronous roles in the 1960s and 1970s, when "the youthful roles dominated the screen and in which natural, boyish jargon was in demand instead of polished stage High German." On television he spoke among others James Stacy as Johnny Lancer in the television series Lancer , David Carradine in his leading role as Kwai Caine in Kung Fu and Parker Stevenson as Joel McCarty in Falcon Crest .

From the late 1970s, Clausen took on fewer dubbing roles, instead he directed dubbing and wrote dialogue books . In these roles, he was responsible for dubbing well-known films such as Blood Court in Texas , An Officer and a Gentleman, and The Soldiers of Fortune .

Jürgen Clausen died in December 1987 at the age of 44 after a domestic accident.
