The Rising Sun is one on the Lürssen built -Werft mega yacht with a length of 138 meters.

history

The ship, designed by the Briton Jon Bannenberg , is the second largest motor yacht that is not owned by a head of state. The purchase price is estimated at over $ 200 million. When it was delivered in 2004, the yacht belonged to Larry Ellison , then CEO of Oracle Corporation , who gave half of it to David Geffen in 2007 . In 2010 Geffen took over the remaining shares from Ellison after Ellison had built a new yacht.

Furnishing

The ship has four MTU - Diesel engines of the type 20V8000 M90 with a total capacity of 36,000 kW, acting on four propellers. It can reach a speed of more than 28 knots.

On board there are 82 rooms with a total size of over 8000 m² on five decks , including a bathroom with a whirlpool , fitness, relaxation and sauna rooms, an extensive wine cellar and a cinema with plasma screens . The teak deck of the ship is more than 3300 m². A basketball court is located aft on the main deck, which can also be used as a helicopter landing pad.
