Rita Hagl-Kehl (born November 11, 1970 in Porz am Rhein ) is a German politician ( SPD ) and high school teacher . Since the federal election in 2013 she has been a member of the German Bundestag and since 2018 Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister of Justice and Consumer Protection in the Merkel IV cabinet .

Life

Rita Hagl-Kehl has been married since 2012 and has four children.

education and profession

After graduating from secondary school, Rita Hagl-Kehl trained as a dressmaker. In 2000, she put on the night school you graduated from high school and then studied until 2005 German and history teacher and political science . From 2008 she was a teacher at Freyung High School .

Political career

Public offices

Rita Hagl-Kehl ran for the direct mandate in the Deggendorf constituency in 2013 and 2017 . In both cases it entered the German Bundestag via the Bavarian State List . She was a full member of the Food and Agriculture Committee and the Transport and Digital Infrastructure Committee .

After the 2017 federal election, she helped negotiate the coalition agreement for the 19th parliamentary term on the topics of nutrition, agriculture and consumer protection for the SPD .

Rita Hagl-Kehl has been Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Minister of Justice and Consumer Protection since March 2018.

In the German Bundestag, Rita Hagl-Kehl is a member of the German-Czech, German-Bulgarian and German-Egyptian parliamentary groups. Together with Steffi Lemke ( Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen ), Eva Bulling-Schröter ( Die Linke ) and Josef Göppel ( Christian-Social Union in Bavaria ) she chaired the parliamentary group Free-Flowing Rivers . She is a member of the parliamentary left within the SPD parliamentary group .

Rita Hagl-Kehl is district chairwoman of the SPD Niederbayern and chairwoman of the SPD sub-district Deggendorf / Freyung-Grafenau. She was elected to the Freyung-Grafenau district council in the 2014 local elections.

Engagement as Parliamentary State Secretary

As Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Minister of Justice and Consumer Protection, Rita Hagl-Kehl has been responsible for consumer protection since March 2018. Topics that fall into their field of activity include: a. Affordable housing, condominium law and building contract law, digitization and transparency for consumers, travel law, organic patents and sustainability as well as consumer protection in the financial market area.

Further commitment

Rita Hagl-Kehl is u. a. Member of the Federal Nature Conservation in Bavaria , the Bavarian Forest Association eV Section Spiegelau / Riedlhütte, the Catholic Women's Association Mauth as well as chairwoman of the Seliger community of Lower Bavaria-Upper Palatinate. Rita Hagl-Kehl is also the deputy chairwoman of the German-Egyptian parliamentary group.

Agricultural policy

Rita Hagl-Kehl was the responsible reporter for the SPD parliamentary group for organic farming, pesticides, fertilizers, soil protection, water protection and sustainability.

As an agricultural politician, she supported rural agriculture, which operates across the board, is multifunctional and is committed to the goal of a production method based on the principle of sustainability. It advocates the expansion of organically cultivated areas in Germany. Further focal points of her agricultural policy work are the reduction of nitrate pollution and the reduction of pesticides in agriculture. She is particularly committed to reducing the use of the crop protection agent glyphosate in agriculture to a minimum and to phasing it out as quickly as possible.

Environmental policy

In terms of environmental policy, Rita Hagl-Kehl is particularly concerned with the interaction between the ecosystem and agriculture. Take a central role here u. a. climate protection and the conservation of biodiversity. As a member of the coalition working group 'Climate Protection Plan 2050', she accompanied the development of a national climate protection plan 2050, which includes measures to comply with the "two-degree upper limit" of the UN climate protection agreement in Paris .

As a member of the parliamentary group Free-Flowing Rivers, Rita Hagl-Kehl advocates a gentle expansion of the Danube and fast and sensible flood protection.

Transport policy

As a transport politician, Rita Hagl-Kehl opposes social dumping in the transport industry. She is against driving bans for motorcycles and drives a motorcycle herself.
